Ale

Ale is any beer brewed with ‘top-fermenting’ yeast, brewed closer to room temperature (around 68º – 70º F).

When compared to lagers ales are more susceptible to additional or harsher flavors, due to their additional byproducts. Think of them as ‘less refined’ than lagers.
